5. There are about 13 different strains of HPV that may cause cervical cancer.
6. Genital herpes is caused by the herpes simplex viruses type 1 (HSV-1) or type 2 (HSV-2). Most genital herpes is caused by HSV-2 and is more common in women (1 out of 4) than in men (1 out of 8).
7. Genital herpes can be spread with or without the presence of symptoms. The first symptoms of genital herpes usually occur 2 weeks after transmission of the virus.
8. Tingling or burning in the legs and painful blisters in the genital area are symptoms of genital herpes.
9. Hepatitis B (HBV) is much more contagious than human immunodeficiency virus HIV.
10. HBV can survive outside the body for no more than 24 hours.
